From criminal investigation to teacher certification to world affairs and big data and technology, CSSME offers programs in today’s most in-demand career paths.

College Departments

Computer Science

The computer science curriculum covers core fundamentals and applied aspects of hardware and software and exposes students to advanced topics in areas such as machine learning and artificial intelligence; data science; computer networking and security; and web programming and development.

Criminology and Criminal Justice

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice equips graduates for rewarding careers in the courts, corrections, law enforcement, victim services, juvenile justice, and many other agencies and organizations—professions that make a meaningful impact on society.

Education (Elementary and Secondary)

UTampa’s Department of Education prepares students to become certified teachers upon graduation. Upon the completion of their degree, students are equipped educators with the skills necessary to create an active learning environment and promote academic success in the classroom.

History, Geography and Legal Studies

While the Department of History, Geography and Legal Studies is made up of faculty from a variety of disciplines, they work together closely to ensure students receive excellent training in preparation for a variety of future careers.

Mathematics

The mathematics major focuses on the most significant branches of mathematics, including real analysis, abstract algebra and finite mathematics, and provides a program that gives students a balanced view of pure and applied aspects of modern mathematics.

Political Science and International Studies

Students in the Department of Political Science and International Studies program get hands-on education with small class sizes and faculty who bring their active research agendas into the classroom.

Psychology

The mission of the psychology program is to give students the tools necessary to think scientifically about human behavior, appreciate the diversity of behavior and experience, and pursue a variety of postgrad career options.

Programs

From these eight areas, students may earn one of more than 30 different majors, minors or certificates. The college also offers three distinct graduate education programs and a graduate criminology program.

Accreditations

	CAPACS – Commission on the Accreditation of Programs in Applied and Clinical Sociology: Applied Sociology Concentration
	The Florida Department of Education approves UT's education programs.
	The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) has certified UT's B.S. program in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
	All undergraduate educator preparation programs, as well as the graduate program in educational leadership, have been nationally accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
